Folding Stool

This project was quite an undertaking when we were just starting out. Engineering-wise this thing has it all: brass plated laser-cut steel legs wrapped in CNC milled solid walnut, hand-turned solid walnut cross bars with a floating center brace, and a hand-dyed and stitched slung leather seat. Aesthetically it is a beautiful collection of design, craft, color, and texture. All of that in a package that neatly folds to be stowed or even hung on the wall.

Cutting Boards

A bit of a staple at Black Fox, these edge grain cutting boards work great for all of your food prep needs. They also look good enough to serve as a canvas for all of your cheese and charcuterie endeavors. Each board is finished with a mineral oil and wax combination to preserve and protect the wood as well as bring out the natural beauty of the grain. The finishing oil has also been infused with rosemary and lavender to give an extra special aromatic pop. They serve as a great introduction to our brand and the quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that goes into every piece.

Floating Shelves

This particular example was a custom build for a client in Manhattan’s West Village. It stretches 10 feet long and is designed to support a small library of books. With a solid walnut construction, we were able to achieve a seamless grain pattern that stretches from one end all the way to the other.

PIA Nesting Tables

There is something about scale and repetition that is so charming. This set of nesting tables plays with both. Combine that with a minimalist aesthetic and traditional details, and these tables would be welcome in any home.

Custom Home Office Built-In

At Black Fox Furniture, we pride ourselves on the ability to design and build furniture that functions exactly as you need and looks exactly as you want. For this custom job in DUMBO, Brooklyn, we did just that. This set up features a custom PTAC cabinet with laser cut aluminum grill, built in file cabinet drawers and a floating desk. Up top there are shelving brackets from Design Within Reach fitted to custom walnut shelves. Add to that solid brass drawer pulls from Schoolhouse Electric and this mid-century modern style office is the best place to get some work done.

Entertainment Center

We locally-sourced the material for this job from a partner 15 minutes away from our shop in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. He specializes in reclaimed lumber and the material we used for this job is bursting with character. A bit of brushing and sanding of the very long twelve foot planks gave everything a smooth texture and a continuous grain pattern across all three pieces. To add to that we gave all the doors push-to-open mechanisms and each piece a powder-coated steel structure made by a local shop specializing in racing engines.
